Meet The Cast of Hip Hop High -The Musical 

Ria Alexander

Her voice is like the touch of a seductive whisper or the sound of a forbidden kiss. These passions are captured by her melodious expressions. This talented singer/songwriter uses music to chronicle the ebbs and flows of the human condition.  Ria is originally from North Carolina but now resides in New York. This songstress is a seasoned performer. She's looking forward to the release of her new single, "Don't Stop", in September 2017. 

 

Ria just finished an amazing run with the multi-platinum recording artist Lisa Lisa (Of Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam). She provided background vocals from 2013 to 2017.  In 2016, she had the pleasure of performing with Roy Hargrove, the Grammy trumpeter.
From 2010 to 2012, Ria provided background vocals for the 90's R&B recording artist, Monifah. In 2006, Ria provided background vocalist support for Elizabeth Withers, the 2006 TTony-nominated artist who portrayed Shug Avery, in The Color Purple.award winning

 

Ria was a featured vocalist on the song ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’, by East Side Cult. "Oz: The Soundtrack" was the soundtrack to the HBO

 

 

 

 

television series, Oz. It was released on January 9, 2001, through Avatar Records. The album peaked at #1 on the Billboard Soundtrack Chart and #8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop AlbumsChart.

 

On March 25, 2008, Alexander released her first studio project entitled, "Beyond the Chrysalis". Popular singles from this R&B infused EP included "Faded Picture", "A Better Woman" and "Nothin' Song". 

 

Over the past 15 years, Ria has honed her performing skills by singing with various corporate and club date bands throughout the New York/Tristate area. 

 

Ria says, "Music inspires and heals.  I am so grateful for the ways in which music has enriched my life."
